FORMA is the engine and the brand — the parametric solver that turns descriptions into manufacturable CAD. CADAM is the open web tool that sits on top of it. Think of FORMA as the brains and CADAM as the workbench.
Is it really open source?
Yes. CADAM is open so makers and shops can run it, learn from it, and shape it. That’s in keeping with how 3D3D works — solve a problem once, let everyone use the answer.
Who is it for?
Makers, machinists, fabricators, and anyone who knows what they need but doesn’t want to model it from scratch in heavyweight CAD. Describe the part; get something you can cut, print, or machine.
